Bajra Sandhi Monument

The tourism object of Bajra Sandhi is a monument in the heart of Denpasar, where it is located in the Renon area. This monument was built and dedicated to the struggle of the Balinese people.

In case, in Jakarta has a Monas, the island of Bali has Bajra Sandhi. Both function as memorial monuments. The architectural design of the Bajra Sandhi Monument is very thick with Balinese architecture, many unique carvings, and sculptures.

The History of Bajra Sandhi Monument

This monument is the idea result of Prof. Ida Bagus Mantra (a Governor of Bali, in 1980). The architecture of this monument was Ir. Ida Bagus Gede Yadnya, he won the architectural monument competition in 1981. That architectural design means the independence day of Indonesia Republic on August 17, 1945, with the design of 17 entrance gates, 8 main pillars and a height of 45 meters monument.

The Bajra Sandhi Monument began to be built in 1981 and then stopped and continued in 1987. The inauguration of the Bajra Sandhi Monument was carried out by the then President, Ms. Megawati Soekarno Putri, on June 14, 2013. In front of the Bajra Sandhi Monument, the annual Balinese arts party parade is held which is opened by the President of Indonesia.

The Uniqueness of Bajra Sandhi Monument

In the middle of the building inside, there are 4 steps, whichever you can use to climb the two floors.

On the second floor of the monument, there is a museum that tells about the struggle of the Balinese people from pre-history, the development of Balinese civilization, the history of the development of the Balinese kingdom, to the time of the struggle of the Balinese people to win independence. The story of the struggle of the Balinese people is illustrated in 33 dioramas. Therefore, this monument is also often referred to as the Bajra Sandhi Museum.

On the second floor of the building, there is a circular staircase to reach the third floor and felt a little dizzy when riding it. On the third floor of the monument building, there is a room that is quite spacious and surrounded by glass windows.
